Myron Samuel joins Sounders 2 in USL

Myron Samuel has joined fellow Vincentian striker Oalex Anderson on the Sounders 2 roster in the United States Soccer League for the remainder of the 2015 season.

This was confirmed last Tuesday by the Sounders club of Seattle, USA.{{more}}

Having appeared in one reserve match for the Sounders 2, which is coached by Vincentian Ezra Hendrickson, Samuel was signed for an undisclosed sum, which is in keeping with the club’s policy.

Samuel, in 2011, was on trial with the club; however, he did not make the grade.

The 22-year-old Samuel, who made his debut at the senior level at age 15 has been on several try-outs in Trinidad and Tobago, as well as in Finland.

He, in the last four years, played for Barbados club Rendezvous, helping them to progress to the top flight of that country’s football set-up.

Similarly, Samuel, who moved from System Three to Avenues in 2009, was pivotal in the latter winning the National Club Championships under the St Vincent and the Grenadines Football Federation for three successive years. Avenues also played unbeaten for four years.

Statistics show Samuel gaining 46 senior caps and scoring 17 international goals.

Samuel, who is the current vice-captain of the senior national team, last represented St Vincent and the Grenadines in the World Cup Qualifiers against Guyana in Guyana.

He was among the scorers in the 4-4 draw, which enabled St Vincent and the Grenadines a passage to the third round.

Samuel would be a key member of St Vincent and the Grenadines’ thrust in their third round tie with Aruba, set for September 4 and 8.(RT)
