Lindon James slams century in North Leeward cricket

National senior cricket team captain Lindon James has slammed the first century in the 2015 Vinlec North Leeward Cricket competition.

James lit up the Petit Bordel Playing Field last weekend, stroking 126 to pilot Carlos James North Stars to 234 for 4 from their 20 overs. Support for James came from former St Vincent and the Grenadines and Windwards batsman – Denis Byam, who contributed 55.{{more}}

In reply, Ajuba could only reach 149 for 9 off 20 overs; Reginald Jeffery hit 34.

Javon Samuel bagged 4 for 24, bowling for North Stars.

Also recording wins were Robertson Surveying Future Legends, Coulls Hill Rangers and Sharpes United.

Future Legends defeated Carlos James Rose Bank by 165 runs.

Batting first, Future Legends scored 216 for 8 off 20 overs, led by Shangi John – 36 and Kimali Williams – 33.

Serino Lockhart took 3 for 51, bowling for Rose Bank, who at their turn were dismissed for 51 in 10 overs. Shangi John backed up his batting efforts with 5 for 9.

Meanwhile, Coulls Hill Rangers got the better of Somerset by six wickets, as action continued on Sunday.

Somerset coasted to 133 for 6 off 15 overs, as the match was reduced because of a late start. Kevin Small, 52, and John Williams, 32, were the principal scorers.

Coulls Hill Rangers responded with 135 for 4 off 13 overs. Marcus McCoy cultured 46 and Akeem Shallow, 37, to see their team to victory.

And, Sharpes United beat Ruddy’s Electrical by five wickets.

Ruddy’s Electrical was dismissed for 160 in 16 overs, with Chrisroy John making 55 and Deon Bynoe, 39.

The key bowler for Sharpes United was Mc Lean Browne, who bucketed 7 for 48; Sharpes United replied with 163 for 5 off 18 overs; Christopher Howe was 47 not out and Augustus Cato, 26 not out.

Another four matches are set for this weekend.

On Saturday, from 10 a.m., Carlos James North Stars meet Circumstance, with Carlos James Peto Stars and Carlos James Rose Bank scheduled to commence their showdown from 2 p.m.

Defending champions RSVG police and Petit Bordel Secondary get the ball rolling from 10 Sunday morning and Ajuba and Future Legends meet from 2 p.m.(RT)
