Mixed results for Under-15 footballers in CFU tournament
St Vincent and the Grenadinesâ Under-15 male footballers are having mixed results in Group Three of the Caribbean Football Unionâs tournament, taking place in St Maarten.{{more}}
In their opening match on Saturday, the Vincentians blanked the host two-nil, with items scored by Javon Clasp in the 25th minute and Faron Kelly in the 33rd minute.
But St Vincent and the Grenadines was sent crashing seven-nil at the feet of Curacao on Sunday.
The Vincentian lads were set to meet Antigua and Barbuda last evening, with the objective of avoiding defeat, to position themselves for a berth in the elimination phase.
The other group taking place in St Maarten, Group Two, is made up of Bonaire, Dominican Republic, St Kitts and Nevis and Grenada.
Group One, being played in Anguilla, consists of the host along with Cayman Islands, St Lucia and the United States Virgin Islands.
Emerging from the preliminary round of competition, the two top teams from the three groups and the two best third places will configure the quarter-finals slate.
The quarter-finals take place August 12; the semi-finals are carded for August 15; and the final, one day later.
The elimination phase of the tournament takes place in St Maarten.(RT)
