A cheque of US$1,500 was last Wednesday presented to the school, to assist the institution in its mission to attend the Penn Relays in the USA next month.

“It was brought to our attention just last Saturday that the Thomas Saunders Secondary School was in need to facilitate their full participation in this year’s Penn Relays; we were happy to help,” said Glenroy Phillips, deputy chair of the SVGDCNY.

Phillips noted that his organization plans to put a system in place to ensure a more structured approach for helping the school in future endeavours.

In accepting the cheque, John Renton, principal of the Thomas Saunders Secondary School expressed immense gratitude to the SVGDCNY.

“We are grateful for the contribution … We are trying to send 12 persons and this cheque will help to send another of our athletes,” Renton said.

The SVGDCNY is a leading Vincentian non-profit organization which is dedicated to developing Vincentians at home and abroad.(RT)
