Bodybuilders muscle up in local competition

Some of the excessive flab that has developed on the body parts of local bodybuilding competition over the past five years was trimmed last Saturday night at the Peace Memorial Hall.{{more}}

This was realized to some extent, with the hosting of the second edition of the Vincy All Natural Bodybuilding and Fitness Classic.

And, despite the relative low turnout of patrons to the event, those who were present lapped up what was offered.

The competitors, many of them new to the sport, all gave a good account of themselves.

Segments judged on the night were the team bodybuilding category, Mr Physique and the Open Class.

Taking the title in the team category was Kimar Ashton, who edged out crowd favourite Daron Shallow into second place. Rickland Hutchinson placed third. The other competitors were Kyle John and Jason Providence.

Muscling up the Mr Physique title was Desmond Francis, ahead of Kevin Providence – second, while John Keil docked in third.

In the Open Class, Kevin Providence pumped his way to the top of the heap. Taking the second place was Akini Hypolite, with Robert Williams third.

Others who contested on the night were Rawle Caesar, Kevin Bailey, Vishnu Browne and Patrick De Freitas.

The panel of judges charged with adjudicating the categories included Allan Hanson, Desmond Matthews and Roger Reddock.

Hanson, the chief promoter of the event, reiterated that all competitors were free of performance enhancing substances. He projected that the next time the show is held, it will be “bigger and better.”(RT)
