BOSVG All Stars shine over Novice in TBPO cricket

Bank of SVG All Stars outdid former winners of the National Lotteries Authority Top Belair Progressive Organisation T-20 Softball Cricket Competition – CGM Gallagher Novice, crediting their 2014 account with a win by four wickets, last Saturday at the Dauphine Playing Field.{{more}}

Batting first, Novice made an under par 102 all out in 15.2 overs; Elton Williams hit 29 and Zane Edwards 20. Kelly Murray with 4-13, Assie Quashie, 3 for 34 and Glenroy Dasent, 2 for 17, were All Stars’ wicket takers.

In reply, All Stars cruised to 103 for 6 in 15.2 overs, led by Keyon Boyea, who made 28 not out and Asquith Mapp with 21.

Bowling for Novice, Desron Spring took 2 for 14.

There were wins on Sunday for Dr Thomas Injectors, Smart Strikers and Gomea Bombers.

Injectors won over Carriere Blazers by 114 runs. Injectors batted first and tallied an imposing 197 all out in 18.1overs, led by Damien Allen who crafted 49 and Ron Adams who hit 46.

Kevin Farrell took 3 for 37 and Kareem King 2 for 21, to be Carriere Blazers’ main wicket takers. Blazers were dismissed for 83 in 15 overs, disassembled by the bowling of Augustine Corridon who collected 2 for 11 and Damien Allen 2 for 14.

Meanwhile, Smart Strikers outwitted Sunset Strikers by 10 wickets.

Sunset Strikers’ innings stopped at 59 all out in 12.2 overs, with Calvin Andrews topping the batting with 22, as Glenroy Gaymes took 5 for 8, including a hat-trick and Harvan Smart had 2 for 18.

In reply, Smart Strikers reached 60 without loss in 7.2 overs; Damaul Phillips was 26 not out and Harvan Smart – 22 not out.

Gomea Bombers was also victorious, registering a two-wicket triumph over Government Printery. Batting first, Government Printery scored 100 all out in 20 overs. Javon Seales and Alex Bynoe struck 23 and 22 respectively.

The lead bowlers for Gomea Bombers were Ovando O’Brien, who snared 4 for 32, Alwayne Quashie 2 for 15 and Asbourne Franklyn 2 for 18.

Bombers, though, got over the mark, but lost eight wickets in the process, reaching 102 for 8 in 15.2 overs. Bernard Bushay got to 26.

Bowling for the printers, Raffi Williams took 2 for 26 and Javon Seales had 2 for 29. (RT)
