Casmond Walters and Azim Richards were the top batsman and top bowler respectively, in the 2014 South East Development Inc. 20/20 cricket competition, which ended last Sunday at the Stubbs Playing Field.{{more}}
Walters, a St Vincent and the Grenadines 20/20 player, registered 285 runs. Playing for Top Guns, Walters scored the lone century of the competition – 140 not out against Glamorgan.
Richardsâ wicket tally was 17. The Victoria Village Future Stars player, Richards was also adjudged his teamâs most valuable player.
Joining Richards in pouching their teamsâ most valuable playerâs accolade were Keron Cottoy – Total Protection Security Services Church Road Connections; Jerome Samuel – Glamorgan, Joey Welcome – Nuts and Rum Mix Up Moods, Verol Henry – Panthers and Lawrence Kydd – Rate Your Boys Challengers.
The list of MVPâs is completed by Kody Horne, who was the choice for Third World and Roneil Jeffrey – Top Guns.
Glamorgan was voted the most disciplined team in the competition.
Church Road Connection copped the top place; with Future Stars second and third was Top Guns.
They received $1,200, $800 and $500, respectively.
Speaking at the closing and presentation ceremony on Sunday, president of SEDI. Rosita Snagg underscored the fact that her organisation was able to carry out its mandate of running the competition, despite having a title sponsor.
She thanked the individuals from the community who answered the call, and propped up the awardees.
Next on the plate of SEDI is the football competition, which is set to commence in early August. (RT)
