Middlesex lead in minimised BCL

Vincentian outfit Middlesex is enjoying the lead in a truncated 2014 Brooklyn Cricket League taking place in New York.{{more}}

Last Saturday at Marine Park C, there was another all-Vincentian clash, but with Middlesex being victorious over Queensbury.

Batting first, Middlesex posted 234 for 9 from 35 overs; Rashane Manning scored 62, Kavir Singh 29 and Treldon McMillan 22. Bowling for Queensberry, Kiran Cuffy grabbed 4 for 28.

In reply, Queensbury fell short by 23 runs, dismissed for 211 from 33.1 overs.

Marcus Bethel 93 not out and Joseph Shortte 45, were the lead batsmen for Queensbury, but their efforts were not backed up by their teammates.

Rawle Jackman with 3 for 24, Kavir Singh, 2 for 15 and Rashane Manning, 2 for 36, were the most successful bowlers for Middlesex.

Following last weekend’s match, Middlesex has thus far recorded six wins and conceded two losses.

The BCL was hit by another blow as Brooklyn Stars have pulled out of the competition.

In on the action are the four Vincentian outfits: Middlesex, Cavaliers, Imperial, and Queensbury, along with St Lucia and Diplomats, which is of Guyanese origin.(RT)
