ASCO locks down sponsorship

The Ashburton Sports and Cultural (ASCO) cricket team just have to show up and do its best in this year’s National Lotteries Authority premier division of the national cricket competition.{{more}}

This, because the law firm of Carl Joseph, has once again provided sponsorship for the team’s participation and the team will be called “Carl Joseph Law Firm ASCO”.

The club last Wednesday received the $2,000 cheque to assist in the team’s participation.

Accepting the sponsorship on behalf of the team, president of ASCO Denisford Foster, thanked the law firm for its benevolence amidst the present dicey economic climate.

Foster noted that the team barely survived relegation last year but expects a better showing in 2014.

President Foster said that the team should be more focused as there were some elements that were part of the setup, who acted against the ideals of the team, hence had to part ways.

Despite the scare, Foster said that ASCO reached the quarter finals of the National Lotteries Authority Neil Williams T-20 competition and there were some individual achievements for some members.

He mentioned Desron Maloney marinating his place on the St Vincent and the Grenadines T-20 team which successfully defended the Winlott Inc Windwards tournament, as well as Darius Martin and Delshun Da Silva gaining selection to the St Vincent and the Grenadines Under-19 team for the Windwards tournament.

Martin went on to represent the Windwards in the regional tournament.

But for the man who calls the shots by providing the funds, Carl Joseph, wants more than simply ASCO members representing St Vincent or the Windwards, he would like to see them go on to play for the West Indies in the not too distant future.(RT)
