Quarter-finalists emerge in Biabou Softball Cricket Competition

There is a brighter light appearing for eight teams in the Biabou Softball Cricket Competition as they have advanced to the quarter-final stage.{{more}}

Emerging from Group A are Gairy’s Construction Simple Boys and Panthers; Group B – Lauders Smashers and Street Fighters, with Lauders Hard Target and Dr Thomas Injectors. From Group D are Combined Sixers and Bank of SVG All Stars.

When the last of the preliminary matches were staged last weekend at the Biabou Playing Field, there were wins for Combined Sixers, Street Fighters and Simple Boys.

Combined Sixers had two wins. First up, they beat Bank of SVG All Stars by four wickets and won by default from Young Strikers. All Stars scored 95 off 19.3 overs; Keyon Boyea made 29.

Bowling for Combined Sixers, Courtney McDowall – 3 for 31 and Delorn Johnson got 2 for 19.

In reply, Combined Sixers reached 98 for 6 off 12.1 overs, led by Richie Richards – 38 and Davian Barnum – 20. Earl Pope picked up 2 for 30, bowling for All Stars.

Street Fighters were dismissed for 76 off 18.1 overs.

Bowling for Shot Gun XI, Hyron Shallow grabbed 3 for 7, Romano Peters – 2 for 21 and Kamal Jackson – 2 for 22.

Shot Gun XI made 74; Hyron Shallow hit 44, but the others were undone by the bowling of Brenton Arrindel – 3 for 11, Ricardo Thomas – 2 for 3 and Asroy Quashie – 2 for 29.

On Sunday, Lauders Hard Target scored 101 all out from 18 overs; Handel Antoine made 21.

Clinchers’ bowling saw Oheyon Toby taking 3 for 22; Glenroy Pitt – 2 for 18 and Desroy Spring – 2 for 21.

Clincher’s response stopped at 78 off 16.1 overs, as Handel Antoine picked up 2 for 14, Chris Humphrey – 2 for 15 and Ishroy Williams – 2 for 25.

And, Simple Boys ousted Panthers by 78 runs.

Batting first, Simple Boys scored 124 all out off 17.1 overs, with Stein Joseph leading the way with 60.

Neil Davy – 4 for 16 and Sheldon Sam – 3 for 19, were Panthers’ most successful bowlers.

Casmond Walters snared 6 for 14 and Oswald Soleyn – 2 for 7, as Panthers faltered, with 46 in 11 overs. (RT)
