Cammie Adams finishes fifth in OECS Cycle Race

Cammie Adams finished fifth in the OECS 56-mile road race staged last Sunday in Castries, St Lucia.{{more}}

Adams clocked two hours, 12 minutes, 16 seconds, to become the best Vincentian finisher.

The next best Vincentian to the finish line was Dominic Ollivierre, who placed eleventh in two hours 14 minutes 42 seconds, while Zefal Bailey placed fifteenth in two hours 14 minutes 43 seconds.

Bailey, however, earned a podium finish as he placed third in the Under-21 category.

Other Vincentians who completed the race were Tortola based Orano Andrews in sixteenth spot, in a time of two hours 14 minutes 44 seconds, while Peter Durrant was twenty- sixth in two hours 34 hours 19 seconds.

Orel George, who also represented St Vincent and the Grenadines, finished down the field.

The rest of the Vincentian contingent included Trevor Bailey – coach, Philcol Jeffers – manager and Emmerson Holder – mechanic.

The race was won by Antiguan Andre Simon in two hours 12 minutes 14 seconds, with Kirk Maraj second in two hours 12 minutes 15 seconds and third Justin Hodge of Anguilla.

Thirty cyclists competed in the event. (RT)
