But their win was not as easy as the Inter-Primary Schools Track and Field title, as Layou Government edged out Spring Village Methodist by a mere two points.

Layou tallied 266 to the Spring Village Methodist’s 264.

To add to their winnings, Allan Straker of the Layou Government was voted the Most Outstanding Teacher among the 44 schools which participated in this year’s Kiddy Cricket programme.

Third place was claimed by the Calliaqua Anglican School, as they answered their way to 259 points.

But Calliaqua Anglican was to add the Most Outstanding Female Participant trophy to their winnings, as Areanna St Luce got that accolade.

On the other hand, it was the C.W. Prescod’s Hassan Mc Lean who was the top male competitor.

Completing the finalists, the Richland Park Government was fourth with 228, while the Park Hill Government was a close fifth with 225 points.

There was a tie for the sixth spot between the Fancy Government and New Grounds Primary, who both gained 214 points.

Likewise, the C.W. Prescod Primary and the Calder Primary each scored 212 points, to also share position number eight.

The Paget Farm Government, with 210 points, sealed the tenth spot.

The ten finalists emerged from zonal competitions, which, like last Friday’s finale, tested the students’ knowledge of cricket. Questioning was both oral and written.(RT)
