Stewart cops Windward Islands U-15 Cricket MVP award
Grenadaâs captain, Emmanuel Stewart, was the obvious choice for the Most Valuable Player award in the National Lotteries Authority Windward Islands Under-15 Cricket tournament which ended here last Wednesday.{{more}}
On the back of his most runs reward for his 349 runs at an average of 69.80, Stewart was named the tournamentâs best wicketkeeper, as well as his teamâs most valuable player.
Stewart, on the six occasions he batted, registered scores of 87, 81, 66, 54, 38 and 23.
Stewart collected his awards last Wednesday evening, at a closing ceremony held at the Murray Heights Hotel.
At the ceremony, he expressed his desire to go on to make the West Indies senior team.
Sharing the spotlight were the joint wicket takers.
Stewartâs teammate Narun Singh and St Lucianâs Stuart Calderon, both picked up 13 wickets apiece.
Singh, a left-arm spinner got his wickets at 10.15 each and Calderon, an offspinner, did so at 13.07.
Completing the list of awardees were the most valuable players for the other three territories.
Taking the award for new champions Dominica was captain Leic Charles, who scored 193 runs.
Likewise, captain of St Lucia Johnnel Eugene was that islandâs recipient, as he compiled 183 runs, with Dellorn Douglas taking the award for the Vincentians.
Douglas was the lead batsman for St Vincent and the Grenadines with 143 runs.
Dethroned champion Grenada docked in second; St Lucia placed third and St Vincent and the Grenadines â winless, finished at the bottom of the table.(RT)
