The training at the office of the SVGFF in Kingstown, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., targets teams participating in the upcoming inter-community/league championships.

Facilitator of the training is Cuban trained physiotherapist Denis Byam.

Each participating team is expected to send two representatives.

“This is geared at equipping the leagues with competent and qualified persons in this area, not just for their respective league teams during these championships, but in the long run,” said SVGFF’s Devron Payer, administrative assistant.

The training will include visual and practical demonstrations as well as literature handouts.

Since the Venold Coombs-led executive took office in September 2011, most of the competition matches, especially in the senior divisions at the Victoria Park, Byam has been present to attend to players’ injuries.

Additionally, a stretcher, along with two attendants, is on hand to provide first response.

The inter-community/league competition features Under-13, Under-17, Women’s, Senior Men’s and Masters.

The competition is set to begin on February 17. (RT)
