Potential Vincy square off in Brooklyn cricket finals

Vincentian outfit Cavaliers are into the finals of the Brooklyn Cricket League (BCL) Twenty/20 cricket competition, set for Sunday at Marine Park.{{more}}

And, it can be an all Vincentian final, as Middlesex, another Vincentian team, will contest the last semi-final, tomorrow against Panthers, to determine the other finalist.

In navigating their way to the finals, Cavaliers came up against Wanderers last Saturday at Marine Park C in the quarter-finals.

Wanderers put up 123 for 7 from their 20 overs.

Bowling for Cavaliers, Timothy Warner had 2 for 24.

In reply, Cavaliers reached 167 for 2 in 17overs. Albert Tesheira struck 59 and Mike Providence 35.

On Sunday, at Marine Park C, Cavaliers and Queensbury clashed in an all Vincy showdown.

Batting first, Cavaliers made 164 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs.

Cameron Cuffy, better known for his bowling ability, crashed 60, which included 3 fours and 2 sixes. Damien Reid added 30 and Ezekiel Williams 21.

Bowling for Queensbury, Gregory Blair took 2 for 21; Marcellus Standford had 2 for 22; and Bruno Henry 2 for 38.

In response, Queensbury was restricted to 139 for 9 in 20 overs. Andy Douglas made 28 and Marcellus Standford 22.

Ezekiel Williams — 3 for 25 — and Cameron Cuffy — 2 for 32 — were Cavaliers most successful bowlers.

Meanwhile, Middlesex journeyed to the semi-finals, with a 5-wicket triumph over Sheffield in the quarter-finals. Sheffield, electing to bat, posted 165 for 7 in 20 overs.

Their total was propped up by Akeem Dodson’s 59 and Glen Hall’s 51.

Joseph Ledwridge and Freddie Roopchand both had 2 for 22 and Andre Kirton scalped 2 for 27, bowling for Middlesex.

In reply, Middlesex compiled 166 for 5 in 17 overs. Quyyam Farroque hit 49 and Mark Audain 41 from 18 balls.

Audain’s cameo included 4 sixes and 2 fours. (RT)
