Lavia slams first ton in Bequia Twenty/20 Cricket
Kurland Lavia slammed the first century of the 2012 Bequia Twenty/20 Cricket Championship at the Clive Tannis Playing Field in Port Elizabeth, last Sunday.{{more}}
Representing newcomers Prize Warriors Canouan, Lavia struck 11 fours and 16 sixes in his belligerent knock of 170 not out.
Contributing to the run feast was Dwayne Charles who hit 92.
The two helped Canouan to a commanding total of 292 for 3, from their 20 overs.
In response, Manicou was dismissed for 106 in 20 overs. Kurt Lavia made 21, as Canouan romped to a 186 run triumph.
Sundayâs win was a reprieve for Canouan, who had been defeated by RBTT Carib Stars, the previous day.
Batting first on Saturday, Carib Stars posted 150 all out off 18.3-overs; Jonas King made 63, while Venkurt Baptiste got 44. Darren John grabbed 4 for 21, bowling for Canouan.
At their turn at the crease, Canouan was dismissed for 122 in 16.1-overs, with Kurtland Lavia scoring 36 and Kazim Nero 28. Desron Lavia captured 5 for 24 for Carib Warriors.
Another three matches will be played this weekend also at the Clive Tannis Playing Field.
On Saturday, reigning champions, Knights Trading Aussies will face South Side United from 2:00 pm.
Then on Sunday, JSM Saloon Royal Challengers will engage Manicou in the first of a doubleheader from 10 in the morning.
Last yearâs beaten finalist Admiralty Transport Youth Combine and RBTT Carib Stars will meet from 2:00 pm. (RT)
