Vinlec NL T/20 switches off on Sunday

The 2011 Vinlec North Leeward Cricket Competition shuts down this Sunday, with the finals set for the competition venue, the Petit Bordel Playing Field.{{more}}

Future Legends of Rose Hall is one team that has already made it through to the finals.

In last Sunday’s first semi final, Future Legends defeated Peto Stars by three wickets.

Peto Stars batted first and was dismissed for 109 off 12 overs, as the match was reduced to a 15 over per side affair, because of rain. Jamuel Matthews with 37 was the topscorer.

Peter Morris took 4 for 13, including a hat-trick and Jadie John took 2 for 15.

Future Legends responded with 110 for 7 off 13 overs. Calvert Cordice led the way with 48. Vidal Edwards took 2 for 27 and Rangel Small 2 for 32, in a losing cause for the home team.

Future Legends await the outcome of this Saturday’s other semi-finals between the defending champions, Carlos James Troumaca United and Winterset Ball Beaters of Fitz Hughes.

CJ Troumaca United got past Somerset of Fitz Hughes by five wickets to advance to the semi-finals.

Somerset posted 161 for 8 off 19 overs. The evergreen Orville Franklyn struck 61, Noxell Michael made 44 and Orlando Charles contributed 24.

The wickets were shared by national player Atticus Browne, who took 2 for 26, Javon Samuel 2 for 29, Kenneth Dember 2 for 41 and Colin Shoy 2 for 53.

Carlos James Troumaca United responded well, as they raced to 162 for 5 off 14 overs. Sheldon Hooper cracked 72, Elron Lewis 31 and Keshaurn Shallow 24. Rellan Mckie with 3 for 35, was the lead bowler for Somerset. (RT)
