North-East Schools vie for cricket title

One thing that is certain when the finals of the United Insurance Schools Cricket Competition is staged tomorrow, Wednesday, June 1, at the Arnos Vale Playing Field, is that the winner’s trophy will head to the north-east belt of mainland St. Vincent.{{more}}

Vying for championship honours are defending champions, the Georgetown Secondary School and the George Stephens Secondary School.

The long awaited final, set to begin at 10 a.m., ends the protracted competition, which has seen several stops, delays, and restarts.

Apart from the winner of tomorrow’s event, the Most Valuable Player of the Final, will be rewarded.

So too, will be the batsman scoring the most runs, the best all-rounder, the batsman scoring the most runs in an individual innings, the bowler with the best bowling average in an innings, as well as the zonal winners.

The Closing and Presentation Ceremony will include remarks from sponsors, sports and education personnel.(RT)
