In the doubles, Mikous Swift and Rodney Caruth saw off Korbet Crick and Devon Cato 11-9, 11-9. The pair of Allan Daisley and Conrad Charles had to settle for the third spot.

Daisley displaced Swift in straight sets, 11-9, 11-7, 11-8, in the high quality finals of the singles. Jeff Trotman, who placed third, was earlier beaten by Daisley, 11-5, 5-11, 11-4, while Swift took out Basulto, 7-11, 11-3, 11-6, in semi final action.

Daisley was named the competition’s MVP. Also receiving special awards were Leroy Lewis for being the oldest player in the competition, and Cuban Orlando Basulto for his calmness and exemplary sportsmanship.

Addressing the closing ceremony were Minister of State in the Ministry of National Mobilisation, Senator Cecil “Ces” Mc Kie, Carl Dickson of Scotia Bank, and Sean Stanley of the Sean Stanley Table Tennis Academy.

Dickson assured the organisers, the Sean Stanley Table Tennis Academy, of his bank’s partnership for next year’s tournament, given their satisfaction with the publicity and friendly rivalry which the inaugural event generated.

Apart from the title sponsors KPMG, E-com Institute, Gaymes Book Centre, and Frank B Armstrong and Better Brands all contributed in making the tournament a huge success.(RT)
