Imperial finishes second in BCL

Vincentian team Imperial finished runner up to Punjab when the regular season of the league competition of the Brooklyn Cricket League came to a close last weekend.{{more}}

Imperial won thirteen matches, lost two and had two rained out to total 138 points, six fewer than Punjab.

Debutants in the competition, Middlesex, also of Vincentian make up, docked in fourth with 118 points, accumulated from eleven wins, 4 losses and two rained out fixtures.

The other outfits, Cavalier and Stars United, finished down the pack in the 18 team competition.

Cavalier, once a force, placed fourteenth, winning four matches, losing twelve and had one rained out.

Stars United did the worst, placing last. They were winless, losing sixteen matches, with one rained out.

Middlesex enhanced their final placing last weekend with two wins.

On Saturday, they beat Jinnah by nine wickets. Jinnah batted first and was skittled out for 56. Bowling for Middlesex, former St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Windwards Islands fast bowler Casper Davis took 3 for 12, Mark Audain, 3 for 15, and Dominic Audain, 2 for 19.

Middlesex replied with 60 for one wicket. Donwell Hector hit an aggressive 42 not out from just 16 balls.

On Sunday Middlesex won by default after their opponents failed to show up. This Saturday sees the start of the Knock Out Competition. Middlesex and Brooklyn Knights play on Marine Park A, while Cavalier plays Grenada at Marine Park D.

On Sunday in the play offs among the top eight teams in the regular season, Imperial meets Shaheen at Marine Park B and at Sea View, Middlesex takes on Travel Treat. (RT)
