SVGAA holds Motor Cross Rally
The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Automobile Association held the CO Williams Motor Cross Rally last Saturday afternoon at the Diamond Track.{{more}}
Veteran race driver Tony Abbott driving his S G deFreitas âBeat the Heatâ Mitsubishi Lancer won the Group Two class three category.
Abbott finished ahead of the heap with ten points. His time was 148.95 seconds. Dr Perry de Freitas in his Hyundai Accent was second and Dominic Ollivierre third, driving his Hyundai Excel.
In the Group Two Class four, Ali Clouden docked in first in his Aliâs Garage Mitsubishi Mirage. Clouden returned a winning time of 147.95 seconds. Shawndy St. Hillaire second, powering his Honda Civic. Charlie Thomas third and his Mitsubishi Colt had to settle for third, and Ajani Howard, who sported his Toyota Starlet, was fourth.
In the Four Wheel Drive Class One category, Keith Francis in his Mitsubishi Lancer Turbo Head Start Pre School, the Doctor, was the winner. Francisâs time was 143.07 seconds, with Ian Trotman second. Trotman also drove a Mitsubishi Lancer Turbo. Frankie King was third and Jerome Ryan fourth. King and Ryan raced in their Hyundai Scoupe Turbo and Mazda Familia Turbo respectively.
The Four Wheel Drive class two was won by Steve Cap Ollivierre in his Mitsubishi Evolution 8 and second was Dexter Gellizeau in Dekieâ s Auto Zone sponsored Mitsubishi Evolution Six . The senior Ollivierre did 139.82 seconds and Gellizeau did 142.02 seconds.
Thirteen cars participated in last Saturdayâs event, which was the second major one put on by the national body at the new and improved track at Diamond.
The first was a Loose Track event which christened the track in June.
