Last weekend, it was the turn of former national Under-17 footballer Deandrous Williams to show his worth as a cricketer, as he stroked 105 for the struggling French Terrace School Boys. Williamsâ innings propelled his team to 164 against Manicou.
Bowling for Manicou, Cleve Walker took 3 for 30 and Godwin Friday, 2 for 33. But rain had the final say, as Manicou was 23 for 1 when heavy showers doused the Clive Tannis Playing Field, ending the match in a no decision.
In matches that came to completion, West Side Knockers, De Graduates and Village Apartments Port Elizabeth gained victories.
Devon Mark topscored with 35 in Knockersâ total of 99. Courtney Ollivierre, 3 for 15, Carlson Stowe, 2 for 15, and Veron Williams, 2 for 18, bowling for Heineken.
Glenroy Gregg, 4 for 12, and Timothy Warner, 3 for 12, bowled Knockers to victory, as Heineken was dismissed for 63, to lose by 36 runs.
Also, De Graduates advanced in the standings with a 28 run win at the expense of Fire Fly Church Boys.
Orlanzo Billingy made 34, as De Graduates batted first and scored 161 for 9. Bernard Derrick was the pick of Church Boysâ bowling with 4 for 36 and Clint Stowe, 2 for 29.
Church Boys stopped at 133. Brendon Duncan hit 42 and Ronnie Gregg, 31, but their input was not enough to cross the line. Orson Ollivierre was De Graduates lead bowler with 3 for 5.
And Port Elizabeth had an eight-run triumph over NCB Paget Farm Pacers.
Port Elizabeth made 133 for 6 off their 20 overs. Ferdie Friday, 36, and Bradley Brooker, 25, were the main contributors with the bat. Bevan Stowe had figures of 2 for 26 bowling for the Pacers, who was then restricted to 125 for 3, from their allotment of 20 overs.
Nickoli Browne led the way with 50, Aldrick Pompey, 33, and Delroy Gregg, 25, but they still fell short. (RT)
