Continuous rain last Sunday, May 3, postponed the Finals in the First Vincy Cup Tournament.

This Sunday, weather permitting, Antillians will face-off against Future Stars to see who is the best Vincy-USA based Football team.

Both Antillians and Future Stars had played undefeated in their division.

Antillians led the way in the Saints group, which also included Chatex, Sion Hill and Superstars.

Future Stars emerged from the Notre Dame group, ahead of Bagga United, Stingers and Rangers.

Patrick Horne, one of the persons behind the Vincy Cup competition, explained that there are some ten Vincy soccer teams in the New York area and they thought it was good to organize a competition among the teams, to create some camaraderie and competition.

He emphasized that the competition isn’t the only venture the committee plans to be involved in; education of players and administration is a key factor in their future plans.

“Youth team preparation and programmes to prepare young players for college,” are also high on their agenda.

The competition, which started two weeks ago, also featured a March Past of teams, which was won by Stingers.

The Rutland field where the finals will be played from 4:30pm this Sunday, is located between Schenectady and Troy.(RT)
