Vita Malt ISS Netball Tournament jumps off

The Vita Malt Inter Secondary Schools Netball Tournament 2007 opened at the Arnos Vale Sports Complex on Friday, 19th October, 2007.{{more}}

The opening ceremony heard addresses from Tournament Coordinator, Ortis Jack, Curriculum Support Officer in the Ministry of Education, Vance Garraway – Representative of the Sponsors (St. Vincent Brewery Ltd.) and Julian Small, Sports Officer in the Ministry of Tourism, Youth and Sport.

Twenty-five educational institutions are participating in this year’s competition in two divisions – under 20 and under 16. Eight matches were played on the opening day. On court one, defending champions in the under 20 Division Campden Park Secondary defeated Barrouallie Secondary School 24:16, while the under 16 played to a 9:9 draw.

The defending under 16 Champions St. Joseph’s Convent Marriaqua lost to the Girls’ High School 24:12, but rebounded in the under 20 to defeat their opponents 33:29.

The Georgetown Secondary School defeated North Union Secondary School 22:6 in the under 20, while the Under 16 teams played to a 14:14 draw.

In the other matches, the St. Joseph’s Convent Kingstown defeated the Dr. J.P.Eustace Memorial Secondary School 32:14 in the Under 20, and 14:16 in the Under 16.
