Novice taking charge

CGM Novice is taking charge of the 2007 National Lotteries Top Belair Softball Cricket Competition.

Lat weekend, they strode to another convincing win over Vipers.{{more}}

A 51 from Trevor Bailey was the top score for Novice, with Uroy Farrell making 42 in their team’s total of 206 for 5. But despite Ian Bushay’s knock of 72, Vipers fell by the wayside, dismissed for 143. Marlon Jack was the pick of the bowlers for Novice, with 4 for 38.

Also recording a triumph was Simple Boys. Stein Joseph made 46, as Simple Boys replied strongly to Nar Fren Dem’s 86. Calvert Simon took 4 for 23 when Nar Fren Dem batted.

East Bank batted first against Punishers and scored 95. Kenneth Lewis had figures of 3 for 27 bowling for Punishers, who responded with 96 for 4, led by Bernard Bushay’s 38.

And Owia Shottaz made certain the long journey to the Dauphine Playing Field was not in vain.

Older Boys took first strike and posted 41. Junior Bacchus topped their batting with 41. Jamal Lewis returned figures of 3 for 17, for the North Windward team.

Jimmy Lavia then hit out to make 42 as Owia reached 89 for 4. Tommy King took 3 for 24, bowling for Older Boys.

Another round of matches will be contested this weekend as competition gets closer to the round of sixteen.
