Cuffy says No!
REPORTEDLY STILL bitter after his 2001 dismissal from the company, test cricketer Cameron Cuffy has snubbed his former employer Cable and Wireless.{{more}}
Cuffy forcefully, and according to reliable reports, robustly resisted all attempts to get him to agree to be featured along with eight other Vincentian cricketers who have played at the International level on the cover of the 2007/2008 Telephone services directory.
SEARCHLIGHT understands that Cable and Wireless’ Marketing Manager Fitzgerald Huggins did all except drop on his knees to get the former West Indies fast bowler to change his stance but failed.
The players featured on the cover of the directory are the late Wilfred Slack, Fast bowlers Winston Davis, Ian Allen, Nixon McLean, Deighton Butler, Michael Findlay, the late Neil Williams, and Alphonso “Alfie” Roberts who is also deceased.
On page three of the new directory the profiles of all eight players are proudly displayed while a footnote at the bottom right hand corner says: “missing Cameron Cuffy”.
Cuffy’s absence was unfortunate; his 15 tests which yielded 43 wickets and his 41 One-day international wickets in as many matches represent a respectable international career.
“He didn’t see the wisdom in saying yes,” said Huggins when he spoke at the Directory’s launch.
