LOC: KFC Cup final trial event 75 % successful

Despite a number of problems experienced by the Local Organizing Committee while preparing for the Cricket World Cup warm up matches to be held here, the committee said their test run at the KFC cup finals last Saturday was 75% successful.

Speaking to Searchlight, communication officer Elson Crick said that a number of aspects went ahead as planned and worked well. These included cricket operations and volunteering.{{more}}

Crick said the actual running of the match on Saturday between Trinidad and Tobago and the Windward Islands went smoothly, and the volunteers at the Arnos Vale playing field played their part very well.

According to Crick, the security and park and ride were two aspects of the test run that need some more work. He said that the committee learnt lessons from mistakes made and will be taking corrective measures.

A number of persons attending Saturday’s finals, expressed some satisfaction and concerns as well, and most are looking forward to the actual warm up matches which take place from March 5th to 9th.

Meanwhile construction work continues at the Arnos Vale Playing field. Most of the work is being done on the double-decker stand and the media centre, but these are expected to be completed in time for the warm up matches. Crick said that a contingency plan to speed up work at the Arnos Vale Playing Field is being developed.
