Clinical in their execution, Jebelle whipped Just For the Fun/Sion Hill 3-0, Calliaqua 2-1, African Tref 4-1, Toney’s Stores Vintage FC 10-1, and completed their domination beating Menelik 3-1. African Tref had to settle for the second spot.

Menelik docked in third with seven points, Calliaqua fourth, Vintage FC fifth and Sion Hill, sixth. Former national defender Dexter Walker knocked in six goals to be the competition’s top goal scorer.

A venture organised by the SVG Over 35’s Club, the festival served to provide a fun activity for footballers who have “gone over the hill,” but still have energy and love for the game.

Two former national players Wendell Nicholls and Myron “Brooks” Baptiste, both home on vacation used the occasion to renew old acquaintances established many years ago.

The event is expected to be pencilled in as an annual competition during the Easter weekend, with the ultimate aim to have a regional flavour added to it, as disclosed by one of the organisers, Leopold Dopwell.

The competition concluded last Monday after three days of vintage football.

The SVG Over’35’s Masters, as well as African Tref will carry this country’s flag at the Barbados Masters Tournament next month.
