Windwards lacking Currency

When the Windwards squad lines up for the 2004 Regional West Indies Series, right hand opening batsman Romel Currency will be missing. Currency has built up a formidable combination with West Indies Test player Devon Smith.

Currency is focusing on studies for an accountancy degree being undertaken at the University of the West Indies. {{more}}

Fourteen persons will represent the Windward at the tournament. Former West Indies allrounder, Rawle Lewis, leads the squad. His compatriot Devon Smith is vice captain. Former West Indies wicketkeeeper Junior Murray is also on the party. His inclusion has raised some eyebrows owing to his breakdown to injury during the Carib Cup Tournament earlier this year.

West Indies allrounder Darren Sammy is one of four St. Lucians in the party. The others are Alvin la Feuille, John Eugene and Craig Emmanuel. Dominicans Liam Sebastien, Fernix Thomas and Shane Shillingford and Vincentians Lyndon James, Kenroy Martin, Deighton Butler and Orlanzo Jackson complete the squad.

There are four reserves: Vincentian Roland Wilkinson, St. Lucian Sergio Ferdee and Dominicans Jean Paul and Ray Casimir.
