GRENADA: Stepfather charged with murder of 14-year-old
A resident of Carriacou has officially been charged with non-capital murder in connection with the death of a 14-year-old girl.
The deceased is Esther Patterson, a student of Hillsborough Secondary School (HSS), who died on Friday, March 8, 2024. Esther was pronounced dead in the hospital after she was taken there by John Kendell Alexis, her stepfather.
Alexis told medical officials that he discovered Patterson lying outside a church compound on Friday afternoon. He said that he had taken Patterson to school in the morning and it was in the evening when he passed the area that he saw her leaning against a wall.
Alexis reportedly took Patterson into his vehicle and drove her to the hospital.
The 30-year-old, self Employed resident was charged today, March 11 with the offence of Non-Capital murder, by intentionally causing the death of Esther Patterson, 14 years, Student of Lauriston Carriacou, by unlawful harm.
Alexis was reported to be a in a relationship with Patterson’s mother.
He is expected to make his first court appearance later this week.
