Vincentian journalist selected for ICFJ Professional Fellows Programme in the US
Journalist Ari Shaw, a radio announcer and host of a programme on WEFM has been selected to participate in the International Center for Journalists’ (ICFJ) Professional Fellows Programme in the United States. Shaw will participate in the approximately five-week programme which began on Wednesday, January 14 and will run until February 19, 2026, a release from the US Embassy in Barbados states.
The ICFJ Professional Fellows Programme promotes professional exchanges that strengthen mutual understanding and cooperation between the United States and partner regions. It brings together journalists, technologists, and media entrepreneurs from Latin America and the Caribbean to engage directly with U.S. media organizations, undertake hands-on professional placements, develop entrepreneurship initiatives, and enhance skills in areas including fact-checking, podcasting, and sustainable media business models, the embassy explains.
It said Shaw’s participation is expected to further enhance his professional expertise and contribute to the continued advancement of high-quality, innovative broadcasting and media practices in St Vincent and the Grenadines. The U.S. Embassy also states in the release that it reaffirms its strong commitment to supporting a free, independent, and professional press, and to strengthening its ongoing partnership with St Vincent and the Grenadines.
