Venezuela’s Acting President: No Kneeling to US Power
In a powerful and unyielding address to the National Assembly this Thursday, Venezuela’s Acting President, Delcy Rodriguez, delivered a pivotal annual message that reverberated with the core tenets of the Bolivarian Revolution: an ardent commitment to nationalism and the steadfast defense of the nation’s sovereignty.
Rodriguez’s discourse underscored Venezuela’s resolute posture, particularly when confronting the recently intensified geopolitical friction with the United States.
She explicitly accused U.S. forces of orchestrating the “kidnapping” of President Nicolas Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores on January 3rd, a grave accusation that set the stage for her comprehensive articulation of Venezuela’s approach to international relations and national dignity.
Her speech was not merely an update but a strategic declaration, designed to reinforce internal unity and project an image of unyielding resolve on the global stage.
Upholding the Pillars of Venezuelan Sovereignty
Acting President Rodriguez’s address served as a potent reaffirmation of Venezuela’s inherent right to self-determination, a principle deeply embedded in the ethos of the Bolivarian Revolution.
She meticulously detailed how the current administration, under the leadership often associated with President Maduro, consistently prioritizes the protection of its territorial integrity, political independence, and the autonomous decision-making processes that define a sovereign state.
Rodriguez emphasized that this potent nationalistic spirit transcends mere political rhetoric; it is, she asserted, the fundamental guiding force behind all governmental actions, domestic policies, and international engagements, specifically aimed at fortifying the nation against perceived external pressures and various forms of foreign intervention.

Venezuela Promotes Hydrocarbons Law Reform to Consolidate Investments and Energy Sovereignty
The acting president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, presented the Partial Reform Bill of the Organic Hydrocarbons Law to the National Assembly, with the aim of safeguarding the investment schemes that have driven the recovery of the national oil industry. The proposal seeks to give definitive legal status to the models established in the Anti-Blockade Law, particularly the Productive Participation Contracts (CPP), which in 2025 attracted investments of nearly $900 million.
During the presentation of the 2025 State of the Nation Address, Rodríguez emphasized that this reform will protect and expand capital flows to new fields and areas with infrastructure deficits, ensuring the continuity of the progress achieved in the energy sector. “I ask this legislative body to approve this partial reform,” the acting head of state stressed.
“The real breakthrough came with the model of the so-called Hydrocarbon Production Participation Contracts. They are colloquially known as CPPs,” stated Rodríguez, highlighting that these contracts have been key to achieving a daily production of 1,200,000 barrels in December 2025, a milestone achieved by PDVSA workers.

Acting President Delcy Rodríguez Held Dialogue with Donald Trump
Venezuela’s acting president, Delcy Rodríguez, confirmed on Wednesday, January 14, that she had a “long, productive, and courteous” telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump, while constitutional president Nicolás Maduro remains kidnapped in New York since January 3.
In a message posted on social media, Rodríguez emphasized that the dialogue took place within a “framework of mutual respect” and addressed a “bilateral work agenda for the benefit of our people, as well as pending issues” in the relationship between the two governments.
The president’s confirmation came hours after Donald Trump informed the press about a “great conversation” with the Venezuelan leader, without offering further details about its content. Trump, who has spoken positively about Rodríguez on several occasions, stated that she is “a terrific person” and that his administration has “worked very well” with her.

Venezuelan workers express solidarity with Cuba and demand the return their constitutional president
The Venezuelan working class took to the streets to demand the release of constitutional president Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores, following their abduction during the US military operation.
The mobilization also served to reaffirm the historic alliance between Venezuela and Cuba, two nations that share a common struggle against US imperialist aggression.
During the march, the workers paid tribute to the 32 combatants who fell on January 3rd while defending the Bolivarian homeland. They expressed their support for the Cuban people and government, noting that both countries face sanctions, blockades, and destabilization campaigns orchestrated from Washington. “The Cuba-Venezuela alliance is a living, popular project that unites two revolutions through doctors, teachers, and shared sacrifices, not through profit or military might,” the organizers emphasized.

Acting President Rodríguez Confirms 406 Prisoner Releases in Venezuela
Venezuela’s acting president, Delcy Rodríguez, announced Wednesday that the prisoner release process initiated by the Venezuelan state continues and that 406 releases have been completed.
The statements were made during a press conference with national and international media, where she was accompanied by the Minister of the Interior, Justice and Peace, Diosdado Cabello, and the President of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez.
She explained that these actions are part of a policy aimed at opening a new chapter in the country’s political life, based on dialogue, coexistence, and the recognition of ideological diversity.
She also emphasized that understanding between different sectors is only possible through mutual respect and the guarantee of human rights. Hate speech and acts of violence will not be tolerated, she added. “The law will be strictly enforced.”

Peace Groups Urge Trump to End Actions Against Venezuela
U.S. peace organizations are carrying out a campaign demanding that President Donald Trump respect the rule of law, abandon a long history of interventions, and end military actions against Venezuela.
On Thursday, CodePink and World Beyond War took part in a rally outside the U.S. Congress in Washington, D.C., where they called for “no war, no overthrow, no coup d’etat, no sanctions” against Venezuela.
They urged support for Constitutional Resolution 68, which would order the withdrawal of U.S. armed forces from Venezuela without authorization from Congress.
“We demand that the U.S. government respect the rule of law and the will of the people. We demand to abandon its long history of interventions, overthrows and coups d’etat, which has included attempts to overthrow Venezuela’s government on numerous occasions,” the organizations stated.
