SVG Co-operative League names new Board
Following the successful hosting of its 45th annual general meeting, the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Co-operative League has announced the Board of Directors that will guide the organization during the 2026 programme year.
The Board is led by Cecil Charles as President, with Cecelia J. Williams serving as Vice President.
Lanel Black is Secretary, and Sabita Jacobs-Seymour is Treasurer. The remaining Directors are Wendy Bynoe, Timothy Scott, and Philmore Isaacs.
In setting out its priorities for 2026, the SVG Co-operative League has placed strong emphasis on modernization and operational readiness within the sector, a release from the League states.
Key areas of focus include advancing digital payments capability, supporting credit unions’ participation in the regional payments system, and guiding the transition to the new credit reporting framework.
The League said it will also continue to prioritize governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
Planned activities for 2026 include targeted training and leadership development for Boards, management, and staff. These efforts, it said, are aimed at strengthening decision-making, enhancing oversight, and ensuring that credit unions remain well equipped to meet evolving regulatory requirements while maintaining strong member protection and public confidence.
Recognizing the increased exposure of the sector to climate-related events, disaster preparedness and business continuity will remain important components of the League’s work programme. Building on recent experience, the League said it will continue collaborating with affiliates and regional partners to strengthen resilience planning, improve response co-ordination, and explore appropriate risk-financing solutions.
“The League remains committed to supporting a stable, inclusive, and sustainable co-operative sector that continues to serve the needs of its members and communities throughout St. Vincent and the Grenadines.”
