Park Hill Evangelical Church marks 66th anniversary

THE PARK HILL Evangelical Church held a grand service on Sunday July 27, to celebrate its 66 year of operation.

Sunday’s service was held under the theme “Ebenezer, thus far the Lord has helped us, 66 years of God’s love.”

Giving a brief history of the church, Bro Robert Fitzpatrick reflected on the work of missionaries from the United States of America who had come to St Vincent and the Grenadines in the early years.

He recalled that the ministry started in Biabou and later moved to Park Hill.

The work in Park Hill began with Sunday School at the old Park Hill Government School and regular street meetings in that North Central Windward community, pioneered by Pastor Amos Dennie and his wife, Sis Gloria Dennie.

They eventually began working on the church building, which is now a magnificent edifice in the community.

In her reflections, Sis Dennie recalled that it was not easy to build a church in those days, as money was scarce.

She however gave God all the glory for what has been accomplished in Park Hill.

During the service on Sunday, other past leaders of the church- Pastors Leslie Daize, Herman Dalzell and Conroy Huggins- were given special recognition, though Pastor Daize was not present to receive his symbol of recognition.

At present, the work at the Park Hill Evangelical Church is being spearheaded by elder Brian Da Breo.

Members from the Evangelical Churches in Diamond, Biabou and Georgetown joined the membership of Park Hill for Sunday’s celebrations.

Sunday’s sermon was delivered by Bro Shimano Bailey, who spoke on the topic, “We have come this far by faith.”
