Labourer sent for mental health assessment following assault charge

On July 19, 2025, police arrested and charged Melbourne Warren, a 44- year-old labourer of Georgetown, with the offence of assault.

According to investigations, the accused assaulted a 38-year-old Carpenter of Georgetown by beating him about his body with his hands causing actual bodily harm.

The offence was committed in Georgetown on May 14, 2025. Warren appeared before the Georgetown Magistrate Court on July 21, 2025. He was not required to enter a plea and was sent to a Mental Health Facility for a two-week assessment.

He is scheduled to return to court on August 4, 2025.
