Vincentian filmmakers urged to apply for fellowship opportunity
The Hairouna Film Fellowship is thrilled to announce the launch of its inaugural program, a transformative opportunity specifically for Vincentian fiction short film scriptwriters/ directors.
Designed to support emerging talent in narrative storytelling, the Fellowship combines mentorship, creative development, and production support to help bring original Vincentian stories to life.
Phase 1: Mentorship and Residency, funded by the Creative Caribbean Grant, UNESCO, will offer five selected participants the chance to receive scriptwriting mentorship from a renowned Caribbean filmmaker. The program includes a three-day intensive scriptwriting residency in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, where fellows will refine their short film scripts with professional guidance and peer collaboration.
Applications open on July 15, 2025, and close on August 2nd, 2025. This call is open to Vincentian nationals aged 18 and older, with a fiction short film script of no more than 15 pages. Submissions must be made through the Fellowship website: www.hairounaff.org.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to review the eligibility requirements and terms and conditions listed on the website before applying.
After the residency, the program advances to Phase 2, funded by the Caribbean Culture Fund. During this phase, participants will have one additional week to revise and polish their scripts. At the end of this period, one script will be selected to receive a $15,000 XCD production grant and comprehensive production support to bring the story to screen.
The selected script will enter pre-production by the end of August, with filming scheduled for September, and completion by November 2025. The Hairouna Film Fellowship is a bold step in creating space for Vincentian storytellers to thrive, offering the tools, mentorship, and funding necessary to discover and nurture local filmmaking talent.
