Active service Auxiliary Police Officer completes Bachelor’s Degree

Second Lieutenant in Auxiliary arm of the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF), Theophilus Franklyn, has successfully completed a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Science, Technology and Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago (COSTAATT).

While actively serving in the Auxiliary Police, participating in training exercises and national parades Lt. Franklyn pursued his studies online beginning in 2022, a release from the RSVGPF states. His achievement is all the more inspiring given the challenges he faced juggling full-time work, police service, home responsibilities, and academic commitments, the release notes also.

Currently employed as an Environmental Health Officer within the Ministry of Health, Wellness, and the Environment, Lt. Franklyn “exemplifies dedication both in service and in personal growth”.

He credits much of his resilience and perseverance to his early training in the St Vincent and the Grenadines Cadet Force (SVGCF).

“There were times I felt like giving up, especially when exams clashed with major events like Independence parades,” the officer is quoted as stating, “But my background in the cadet force gave me the discipline and mental strength I needed to push through.”

Throughout the three-year programme, Franklyn not only deepened his academic knowledge, but also developed essential skills that will support his continued contribution to national development. With graduation ahead of him, the police release notes that Franklyn is already considering the pursuit of a Master’s degree soon.

The police said his accomplishment “stands as a powerful testament to perseverance and service, and serves as an inspiration to fellow officers and young Vincentians alike”.

The Commissioner of Police and the rank and file of the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force, the Commandant of the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Auxiliary Police Force and ranks have extended heartfelt congratulations to 2nd Lieutenant Franklyn on his achievement and wish him more future successes.
