Rubis Donates Supplies to Tech/Voc Institutes
Rubis has donated a quantity of supplies to the Technical and Vocational Institute (TVEI), in what the petrol retailer said is its continued show of commitment to youth empowerment that reaffirmed its role as a responsible corporate citizen.
“This timely donation comes as the institute faces significant operational challenges, and it is expected to make a meaningful impact by enabling TVEI to continue fulfilling its mission—equipping young people with the skills and training needed for personal and professional success,” the company said in a release.
Speaking at the official handover ceremony, the Rubis Country representative, Elroy Edwards, highlighted the deeper significance of the company’s involvement:
“At the heart of this initiative are the young people we seek not only to assist but to empower. Our contribution positions Rubis not merely as a donor, but as a vital partner—a pillar supporting the dreams and potential of these students. With our support, we’re not just addressing immediate needs. We’re helping to build a future.”
This latest initiative reaffirms Rubis’s dedication to the development of young people and underscores its broader vision of community upliftment through meaningful partnerships and sustained engagement. As the challenges facing educational institutions grow more complex, support from private sector leaders like Rubis provides not just material resources, but also hope and a stronger foundation for long-term progress, the company added in its release.
Representing the Ministry of Education at the event, Senior Education Officer for TVET, Pearlette Primus-Hannaway, conveyed appreciation on behalf of Deputy Chief Education Officer, Joycelyn Blake Browne, who initiated the discussions with Rubis.
“I wish to express heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the kind gesture your company has extended to the technical institutes. This contribution of consumables will go a long way in assisting the trainees to complete their assessments. Again, please extend our gratitude to the management of Rubis,” Hannaway stated.
The donation will directly benefit three technical institutes: Georgetown Technical Institute, Barrouallie Technical Institute, and North Leeward Technical Institute.
In attendance to receive the donated supplies were:
Deighton Abbott, Welding Instructor, Georgetown Technical Institute; Kendal Sam, Principal, Georgetown Technical Institute; Pearlette Primus- Hannaway, Senior Education Officer, TVET; and Joseph Green, Senior Project Manager.
“Rubis’s continued engagement exemplifies the positive impact that public/private collaboration can have on national development, particularly in shaping a skilled, empowered, and future-ready youth,” the company concluded.
