VINLEC explains island-wide outage

The St Vincent and the Grenadines Electricity Services Limited (VINLEC), has provided an explanation for the power outage on Sunday June 2, 2024, that lasted for just over four hours. The electricity outage which occurred around 6:30 p.m, and was restored at 10:45 p.m “was caused by a switchgear issue at one of our main plants,” a release from the electricity company states. All electricity consumers were affected by the power outage. VINLEC said it had deployed all the necessary resources to address the issue and went on to assure customers of “the reliability of our service”. Further, VINLEC said it understands “the significant inconvenience caused by the island-wide outage” and deeply appreciates “the patience and understanding demonstrated by our customers”, during the outage. “VINLEC remains committed to maintaining a reliable power supply and providing exceptional service to all our valued customers…”, the Company further said.
