Minister of Health St Clair Prince to address World Health Assembly today

Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment St Clair Prince will address the 75th World Health Assembly (WHA) today May 24, 2022. Minister Prince leads a three-member delegation who are currently in Geneva, Switzerland for the international forum.

The team includes Deputy Lead, Chief Medical Officer Dr Simone Keizer – Beache and Delegate, Director of Health Security, Donna Joyette-Bascombe. The team will represent St Vincent and the Grenadines in the General Discussion and Plenary sessions and has presented a proposal for the Supplementary Agenda Item “Inviting Taiwan to participate in the World Health Assembly as an Observer”.

While there, the team will also engage in bilateral discussions on health-related matters including Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases, Emergency Preparedness, Infectious Diseases, among others.

The team will also be part of the election of a new President of the World Health Assembly and also a Director General of the World Health Organsation (WHO).

The World Health Assembly is the decision-making body of World Health Organisation, while the World Health Organisation is the United Nations agency which deals with matters of International Public Health. (API)
