Covid-19 cases in SVG increase to 60

The number of active Covid-19 cases in St Vincent and the Grenadines has increased to 60, after eight new cases  and two new recoveries were reported on Saturday, September 4, 2021.

“Eight new cases were reported from 250 samples processed on Saturday September 4, 2021, resulting in a positivity rate of 3.2%,” a release from the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) said on Sunday, September 5.  

“Two new recoveries were noted over the reporting period. Sixty cases are currently active  and 12 persons with COVID-19 have died. Two thousand three hundred and seventy-nine (2379) cases of COVID-19 and two thousand, three hundred and seven (2307) recoveries have  been recorded in St. Vincent and The Grenadines since March 2020. 

“In view of the increased risk of infection and subsequent transmission of COVID-19 posed by the  growing incidence of variants of concern in persons entering St. Vincent and the Grenadines, strict  compliance with all protocols and recommendations is strongly recommended. These include the  effective use of masks, physical distancing, hand sanitizing and immunization with available  vaccines,” the release said.
