Police investigating the death of a watchman from Layou

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Irwin Patterson, a 71-year-old watchman of Layou that occurred on November 24, 2020.

“According to investigations, Patterson was employed as a watchman at a quarry in the Mt Wynne area. About 3:30 pm on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, Patterson’s co-worker discovered him face down gasping for breath and summoned the police from the Barrouallie Police Station. As a result, the officers visited the scene. Patterson was then rushed to the Buccament Bay Polyclinic to seek medical attention and later transferred to the Accident and Emergency Department of the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital. He later succumbed to his injuries,” a release from the Police Public Relations Department said.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted on the body of the deceased to ascertain the exact cause of death.
