42 Ranger Guides invested and 39 renewed

EIGHTY-ONE Ranger Guides from the No. 23 Unit of the Girl Guides Association of St Vincent and the Grenadines were invested or renewed at a ceremony on January 31 at the Girl Guides Headquarters at Level Garden.

The Renewed Year Twos

Of the 81 Rangers, 42 were invested from the St Vincent Girls’ High School, the St. Joseph’s Convent Kingstown and the Thomas Saunders Secondary School, while 39 Ranger Guides were renewed.

Some of the preliminary tasks for investiture included but were not limited to knowing and understanding the Promise, Law and Motto from a Ranger point of view as well as the aims of the Movement, the structure and guiding symbols. In addition Ranger Guides participated in several service projects and programmes aimed at enhancing their knowledge on the Sustainable Development Goals while also dedicating time to practising first aid and survival skills as well and outdoor expeditions.

Several Ranger Guides received awards for outstanding attendance. In Year 1, Aliyah Mofford received the award for outstanding attendance while Tiyana Roberts received the award for the Year 2 level and Cristine Veira received the award for Year 3. For excellent community service, the awardees were Aaliyah Knights, Genelle Glasgow and Ancar Gordon from Years 1, 2 and 3 respectively.

The Renewed Year Threes

The No. 23 Ranger Guides Unit delivers high quality non-formal education programmes and international opportunities with the aim of giving girls and young women dynamic, flexible and values- based training in life skills, leadership and citizenship. All activities and programmes fall within four broad areas of social change that contribute to the global vision of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girls Scouts for all girls and young women to be valued and take action to change the world.

The girls have now become members of the guiding family and are encouraged to not only become great leaders but to develop their fullest potential in every way.
