Vinsure rewards safe drivers

Driving without an accident for the last 15 years has paid off for nine people, who were rewarded this year by Vinsure for that achievement.

The insurance company gave back to their customers in a small ceremony last week, where some of the awardees were present to accept their tokens.

“It started, this whole programme of giving back to our customers started in 1999. We rewarded the first 18 people in 1999 and we spent about $11,000,” George Samuel Goodluck, Vinsure’s managing director said. “Since then, we have rewarded about 179 people and we have given back about 120,000 and you know, a lot of people don’t really know this because we don’t toot our horns.”

Present at the September 17 ceremony to collect their awards were Ronald Dick, Chesley Ferdinand, Jules Ferdinand, Sheldon John and Jefferson Sardine, who was receiving the award for the second time.

Other awardees were Bertram Simmons, Anthony Franklyn Sardine, Garfield Cyrus and Mabel Crosby. Both Crosby and Cyrus were also receiving the award for the second time.

“We feel that in our position, we need to look after our customers firstly and to be a source of good to people who are underprivileged, poor, needy, differently-abled, so as a result of that, our social responsibility is… we give a lot on a monthly basis,” Goodluck said.

He said the company gives to six charities monthly: “St Benedict’s day nursery — and that’s been going on for about 15 years now; We give to the … School for Children with Special Needs; the Catholic Soup Kitchen; …Salvation Army school feeding programme; Association for People with Disabilities; … and the World Paediatric Project.”
