Death penalty and flogging may cut down the crime rate

EDITOR: I remember when I was very young, the death penalty was actually enforced, and other corporal punishment, mainly flogging, was administered to some prisoners as part of their sentence. Those measures did some wonders back then and the crime rate in St Vincent and the Grenadines was low.

We are facing a much different situation now, with lots of guns, drugs, burglaries and killings, and our crime rate has surged tremendously. The Government and law enforcement officials must decide to bring back the death penalty, along with using other solid measures, like longer sentences with floggings and very hard labour.
