How can we prosper when we turn away from God?

Editor: Has this nation sold itself to Satan and the forces of darkness? And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.” Matthew 24:12. This verse correctly gives us an idea of the state of this country.

We are called a Christian nation, but is it true to say so or should we say that we are a religious nation? A person does not have to look far to realize that there is a widespread practice of iniquity in particular obeah and necromancy. Even persons who claimed to be God’s servants are also involved in this practice. In the last general elections there were many allegations of iniquity being practised. No wonder that politics as it stands today is a dirty game.

The cartoons that we watch are also filled with demonic things. The many chains and bangles and bracelets of different kinds are sometimes laced with iniquity for various reasons. Criminals sometimes walk free from the courts because of the practice of obeah.

When, as a people, we have turned away from God and turned to iniquity, then how can we prosper? Many use the Bible and the name of Christ to do their dirty work.

When we resort to this devilish practice for almost everything, then how can we move forward? Surely the wrath of God will one day fall down upon us. It is quite clear that if we have been involved as a nation in iniquity, then we have indeed sold ourselves to Satan.

I would like us to remember that Psalm 33:12 tells us “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” Because of the increase in iniquity, our love for many has grown cold. Truly we have invited the wrath of God upon us a nation.

God’s justice grinds slowly, but surely. Let us, as a people, return to God. Let us forsake our evil ways. Let us put away from us the practice of such wickedness as being involved in iniquity. God wants to bless this nation. After all we are supposed to be ‘Hairouna, the home of the blessed.’

Let us not be fooled by the many miracles and supernatural activities, for they can come from the working of iniquity, as stated in Matthew 7:22-23 “Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’

“Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you workers of iniquity.”

May God bless this nation SVG.
