Do Christianity and science conflict?

Editor: Archaeologists in Argentina have recently discovered what they described as fossils of the largest dinosaur to be discovered to date. The fossils are said to be over 90 million years old. The question is, where do these discoveries leave us as Christians?{{more}} Are we to ignore these discoveries and discard them as false or are we to question the times given in the Bible, which seek to suggest that life has been in existence for only several thousand years? This is an issue that preachers ought to discuss with their congregations. For the students of history and science, should we encourage them to believe in the discovery of these archaeologists?
Some persons try to convince us that there is no conflict between religion and science, but I beg to differ. We were given the impression that God made animals then found that something was missing, hence made Adam, then Eve. We are being given the impression that all this took place several thousand years ago.
I have always questioned the time lines given in the Bible. For instance, we were told that God took six days to build the universe. First of all days involve daylight and night. This is what enables us to measure days. All of this comes about as a result of the rotation of the earth around the sun. If God was constructing the earth and the rest of the universe, there was no possible way to measure in terms of days, since construction of the universe was going on. There was no earth and sun for rotation to take place, so that time could not have been measured in terms of days. Of course, the ardent Christian would tell me that anything is possible with God.
Most persons tend to forget that Christianity was part of the package with slavery for us in these parts.
