Molestation of our children, our future!

Tue, Feb 5, 2013

Dear St Vincent and the Grenadines,

Normally, a letter of this nature would be addressed “To whom it may concern,” but it is the opinion of the organization LOVNSVG that it is a matter of national importance.{{more}} For too long our children have been molested by strangers, their own family members and family friends.

Children are the future of our society. It was once said once a man (adult), twice a child. However, could one really look into him/herself knowing they have molested a child and call himself a man (adult)? We are not, however, discriminating against the offenders, but appealing to them to stop.

SVG, let’s have an introspection. Is this the culture of our island? When did this become a part of our culture? Our children are crying out for help. Please let us not turn a blind eye. The time has come for us as a nation to rise up and stand on our feet and say ENOUGH is ENOUGH. Our children need us now more than ever. Mothers, for nine months you have fed and carried those children, so remember to protect them. Fathers, you also played a role in giving life to these children, so be that role model and remember to love these children.

It is our duty as a nation to protect our children; don’t feel powerless when you know a child is being molested. The time has come, the trumpet has sounded enough is enough; let us be the voices for our children, the future.

Child molestation exists worldwide, but let us work together to prevent the high rate of child molestation in such a small populated country as St Vincent and the Grenadines.

The children of our nation are not here to be molested, but here to be the future of our nation. So, let us start speaking out and standing up against any form of child molestation. It is not okay to commit such acts against a child. Mothers and fathers, protect your children, for they are the future of our beloved nation, the Gem of the Antilles.

SVG is our island, our home, our place of refuge; let our children have the same concept !
