Searchlight’s coverage of carnival ‘awesome’

Tue, Jul 17. 2012

Editor: Greetings to you, in the name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

I just want to applaud this media organization for a very well covered Carnival (Vincy Mas 2k12). SEARCHLIGHT, your coverage, even leading up to the season was “awesome”! The individual stories on the artistes was by far the best coverage produced by all of the media houses in SVG, in my opinion.{{more}}

Artistes I’ve never heard of and those who are still around from the earlier years, like Luta reaching out to his long-time friend, who is now a homeless individual. These articles are what is missing from the other news reports. Too much handing overs, or Ministers of government say this or that. The Human Interest stories are very captivating and showcase more of our homeland than the political reports that are on every day on other mediums.

Good job is what I wanted to say in the first place, but forgive me for straying.

Finally, the initials “AA” (Audwin Andrews). Not sure if he is a freelancer there, but I enjoy his articles. His writing is portrayed as a storyteller, but at times miss further detailing. However, they are to the point and on most occasions, captivating.

Junior Jarvis, whom I’ve known over the years and seemed to have transformed into a more mature individual, also produces great work. Deep, detailed and at the same time informative, based on the additional information he adds.

Your team seems well-rounded and I enjoy reading the articles. Keep on being different; it’s what makes you better than the others.

Great job for Carnival, Editor, you and your staff, and now the season has ended, do not discontinue to report on our artistes, mas men and women, and other elements related to our culture and way of life. These are the stories that let us know how we are doing and progressing as a people.

God’s richest blessings,
M. Browne
