Itâs a major eye sore and reflects badly on our environment and St. Vincent in general. Certainly there must be legislation that governs derelict vehicles in public places. Is it so difficult to enforce such legislation? The situation is disgusting!
Previously, when the old Building was there, it was surrounded by a number of old, broken vehicles. Now there is a new building that is fenced, and the situation is slowly creeping back. Why should the public be inconvenienced by people who have more vehicles than parking space?
The Pâtani carnival shows are normally held at this location. The national calypso semi finals will be held there as well. A number of visitors will be coming in for Carnival, and this is what we will be offering them?
When we go further from Peruvian Vale, through Yambou to Belmont, there are about twenty derelict vehicles along the main road. This is a popular route for tour buses. To go further, it is a malignant problem throughout St.Vincent. It gives the impression that there is no solid waste Management Unit, no Ministry of Health and Environment and no Ministry of Tourism. Or is it the responsibility of the Police?
The paid Elected and Appointed Officials see these things every day, yet they seem too busy to simply recognize that this is an eye sore and an environmental hazard that needs their attention.
